Coming from Los Angeles, Tex & The Horseheads are another example of country/blues punk music. Fronted by the husky voiced and exotic looking Texacala Jones, they had a Jack Daniels drinking/ Marlboro smoking sort of image.
This is their first album that came out on Bemisbrain Records. They also had one other studio album – Life’s So Cool – and a live album that was recorded in the Netherlands.
I don’t know much else about the group, apart from that some of the members also played with Rik L Rik, Weirdoes and Funeral.
Although they have a more typical punk rock sound, here are the two Funeral EPs – Waiting For The Bomb Blast and Funeral.

Thank you for posting the first album. Would you by any chance have the second?
I already have both… on vinyl. I’m not tech-savvy so digitalizing them is beyond me. I want them on my iPod.
I also own a high quality live set by the band, recorded here in LA about 8 or 9 years ago. It is SO much better than the live album from the Netherlands.
cheers

I’m afraid I don’t have the second album, I’d quite like a copy of it myself. If I ever do come across a copy I will post it.
I’d heard that the live Dutch album was quite poor sound quality so always avoided it, but I always thought they would be a class act to see live.

Thanks for the pointer about The Flesh Eaters – I have a few tracks by them from various compilations etc. and I’ve been meaning to get some more of their stuff for ages, I’ll try making a bit more of an effort now.

Hey Shit Ed I have both albums digitized and in my iTunes. I would trade you CD copys of the albums for a copy of the live stuff

Thanks for the record. Hearing “Clean The Dirt” reminded me that I had the chance to see the band once, and as I recall they were pretty decent & fairly wasted, just the way it was supposed to be. Also, I think they have 3 tracks on “Hell Comes To Your House II”.

Never heard Tex and the Horseheads before, very interesting. I did find the Funeral 12″ for £6 in a record shop in Harrow once (don’t look for it, it’s gone!) along with both Willful Neglect LP’s and the Bad Posture 12″!!! All £6 each.. It was the late 90’s too, if they’d been sat there for years, well, it’s hard to believe no one found them…. I nearly poo’d meself!!! One of the best days in my vinyl hunting life! I traded the Funeral for something tasty but still have the others.

I have the live album in a box in my attic as far as I know unless I have given it away …
